Our honeymoon to the north island of New Zealand, October 2003.

We began our trip in Auckland & spent several days enjoying the local neighborhoods and beaches. We then drove east to the wild and remote Coromandel peninsula and the town of Whitianga. The following day, we continued down the coast to Tauranga. We then drove inland to Rotorua, famed for its geothermal activity. Next we headed southeast for the wine country of Gisborne & Napier. Having our fill of wine, we hurtled south to the capital of Wellington. Halfway around the island, and having only 2 weeks, we decided to postpone the south island for another visit, and turned north to Wanganui. The following morning we set out for New Plymouth at the base of the impressive Mt. Taranaki. Next was Waitomo Caves, home to the world famous glow worms and some excellent tramping. Then back to the big city of Auckland and our all too brief trip was over.
